Synth Dreads
How are Synth Dreads different from Natural Dreads? They don't have to be cut out of your hair or labourously combed out when you decide you don’t want them anymore. Your natural hair remains safe and undamaged, and they can be taken out easily at home at any time within the 2 month suggested wearing period. Synthetic dreads can not be dyed as the plastic hair is non-porous. They are also formed in a different way than human hair dreads, as the method involves heat to seal the synthetic hair.
The duration of the appointment depends entirely on what type of extensions you decide to get. As a quick overview: wrapped dreads 8 - 18h, double-enders 1 - 4h, single-enders 2 - 5h, braided dreads 2 - 6h. In most cases, I suggest booking the rest of the day off after your appointment, not making plans for the evening for everything except double/single ended dread installs on shorter hair.
I only use the highest quality hair when I am creating synthetic dreads. Exclusively from Plastikhaar, who have the highest quality and best color selection around! Many UV reactive colors are available for extra retina-scorching brightness!
Preparation
Dying your hair should be done three to five days prior to your appointment. Be certain that you rinse (especially your scalp) thouroughly. I dont suggest using the conditioner they include if you have naturally straight or slick hair.
The morning of your appointment wash and dry your hair normally. You may condition if you feel it is necessary, but i dont reccomend it if you have naturally straight or slick hair.
Please do not use any extra hair products in your hair the day of your appointment (gels, defrizzers, leave in conditioners, etc.)
If you have a very sensitive scalp, I suggest taking a tylenol before the appointment. I usually have some advil here just in case.
I have two (very friendly) cats, so if you are allergic to animals be sure to bring antihistimines! :)
