Dreadlocks are when your own hair is tangled and knotted up in such a way that it forms rope-like mats. It is a permanent hairstyle, in the sense that you cannot easily change it whenever you please. Dreadlocks can come in any size or shape, can be done with any hair texture, thickness, and pretty much any length. Some hair textures (like afro hair) are much easier to dread than others, but that doesn't mean just because you have slick thick straight hair it cannot be dreaded! It will just be a different experience and take a different sort of maintenance.

The services I offer include:

 

Starting new dreads from scratch, just let me know what your desired look is and I will do my best to re-create it for you. Hair should be at least 6" long for this service, but I have done it on shorter hair also. To prepare for this, please discontinue use of conditioners and have clean hair for your appointment! Washing your hair with a dread shampoo helps strip it of synthetic conditioners to aid the dreading process as well!

Dread Maintenance, which includes working in loose hair, smoothing down lumps, rounding out ends, fixing up sectioning, adding dreads together, splitting dreads apart, and the like. Can be done on dreads of any age or condition. Can be done on a per-hour appointment or until it is totally done, depending on your budget. Works best on clean hair!

Dread Extenders, which can be done on already matured dreads or part of starting new dreads. It involves working human hair onto the ends of your own dreads, the hair is crocheted and backcombed into your own hair so the extensions are permanent, and should mature along with the dreads. Since the hair is human hair it can also potentially be dyed along with your hair if you choose to change the color of your dreads one day. Can be done with any hair texture, any color, and to achieve virtually any length. This is a very time consuming process and can not always be done all at once, depending on the situation.
